BB Media unveils the Oscars aftermath!
Understanding HITS through Search, Piracy, Social Buzz & RatingsThis past Sunday, the Oscars took center stage in the US and BB Media analyzed the demand metric. Curious about which actors, actresses and movies tracked more content during the ceremony?
Despite not winning the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, thanks to his amusing portrayal of ‘I’m Just Ken’ Ryan Gosling stole the spotlight, ranking as the N°1 actor that impacted most in the demand metric with over 157M impressions using the Oscars hashtag.
The Oscar ultimately went to Robert Downey Jr., who claimed the sixth spot among actors making 1M impressions, likely due to his victory for his role in ‘Oppenheimer’. Da’vine Joy Randolph also garnered attention, securing the fourth spot in the demand metric following her win for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her touching and humorous performance in ‘The Holdovers’

As BB Media predicted, in the showdown for Best Actress in a Leading Role, the critics leaned towards the previous Oscar winner for her remarkable performance in ‘Poor Things’. Emma Stone landed the second spot among the most mentioned actors and despite the buzz surrounding her win, users went wild for Ryan Gosling’s nod to ‘La La Land’, prompting Emma to sing a snippet of ‘I’m Just Ken’.
As expected, ‘Oppenheimer’ swept the awards, making it the movie that caused most impressions with a total of over 419M. The film scored seven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Original Score, Cinematography, and Editing. With his win for his captivating portrayal of the enigmatic theoretical physicist, Cillian Murphy generated significant buzz making over 2M impressions. On the flip side, ‘Barbie’ left a lasting impression despite falling short in several nominated categories making it to the second spot among most talked about movies. It’s plausible that Barbie went viral on X due to Ryan’s performance and Billie Eilish’s live rendition of ‘What Was I Made For?’, which later earned her a second Oscar for Original Song.
Despite the audience’s anticipation of ‘Barbenheimer’ being the primary rivalry at the Oscars, ‘Poor Things’ emerged as the true contender for ‘Oppenheimer’, securing numerous awards throughout the night and thus making a total of 134M impressions.
