Best Streaming Services for Horror Fans

As the demand for horror continues to rise, streaming platforms have ramped up their offerings, with more than 900 announcements for horror and thriller titles planned for 2024. Nearly 230 of these announcements occurred in October alone. Among the leading platforms, Peacock, Prime Video, Paramount+, Netflix and MAX, each stand out in terms of the quantity and diversity of their horror releases.

This October, the most recent releases have dominated streaming announcements, with a strong focus on 2024 and 2023 content across multiple platforms. Peacock emerges as a top contributor, covering 21% of horror announcements. Prime Video closely follows with 19% of total titles.

Highlights by Platform: Horror Announcements in October

Prime Video, with its wide selection of horror titles, showcases both new content and retro releases, while Paramount+ holds 19% of the horror announcements, offering a balanced mix of recent and vintage hits. Max includes recent releases alongside cult horror classics from 1987 and 1985, while Netflix focuses mainly on recent horror, covering 12% of all announcements with titles from the 2020s, including notable films from 2022 and several from the ‘90s. 

The Top 10 Horror Titles and Production Types

In October’s top 10 horror hits, franchise continuations were prominent, with six entries consisting of sequels, remakes, or reboots. Among them, titles like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Terrifier 3 underscore Warner Bros. Discovery and Blumhouse Productions’ pivotal roles in high-performing horror franchises.
