Paramount+ Launches Ad-Supported Plans in Australia

Paramount+ continues to expand its ad-supported plan offerings. The platform began offering    ad-supported plans in the US in 2022, and after launching in Canada in April, they are now available in Australia. These new plans allow users to save 30% compared to the standard subscription. The expansion of Paramount+’s ad-supported plans reflects a growing trend in the streaming market to offer more accessible options to attract and retain a broader subscriber base.

Max Continues Expanding in European Countries

Max, the streaming platform from Warner Bros. Discovery, is continuing its expansion in Europe with new strategies and partnerships. Recently, it was launched in Bulgaria, France, and Poland, while in Belgium and the Netherlands, it continues to operate under the name HBO Max. However, the plans now include the sports content that Max began offering with its relaunch at the end of May. This sports content, which includes global events from Eurosport, adds significant value to the platform’s offering and helps retain its subscribers.

In France, Max established a new partnership with Prime Video, offering Max’s monthly subscription plan as an add-on. This strategic alliance responds to the growing demand for a more integrated and convenient experience for subscribers, allowing them to access a wide variety of content from a single platform. Additionally, Max has signed agreements with various telecommunications companies in France, including Canal+, Orange, Free Mobile, and SFR, to facilitate access to its service.

Strarzplay increases its price in MENA

Starzplay, owned by Lionsgate, has recently increased its prices in the Middle East and North Africa regions. This platform, one of the most important in the region, offers not only a wide variety of original and regional content but also high-demand sports content, such as UFC, Serie A matches, and Major League Cricket 2024. This price adjustment will allow Starzplay to invest in more content, thus improving its offering and attracting more users. For companies operating in the region, it is essential to consider Starzplay’s influence in their business strategies, given its crucial role in the entertainment and sports market.

prime video includes an AD-FREE Plan in Australia

Following its initial launch in the US and its subsequent expansion in Europe (Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Spain, France, and Italy), Canada, and Mexico, the add-on that removes ads from Prime Video subscription plans has reached the APAC region. Starting in early July, users in Australia can remove ads from their monthly plan for just USD 1.99, in addition to the monthly plan cost of USD 6.65. This expansion reflects a strategy to attract and retain subscribers by offering greater customization and control over their viewing experience.

Global Offer from Paramount+

Paramount+ relaunched a global offer at the end of June, allowing users to save up to 67% on monthly plans for three months. This platform, known for its recurring significant discount offers, uses this strategy to continually increase its subscriber base. Additionally, it maintains strategic partnerships with regional telecommunications companies to expand its global presence.

Max increased its prices in the US

Max has made its first price adjustment since its launch in the US in May 2023. The monthly           ad-free plan increased from USD 15.99 to USD 16.99, and the annual plan from USD 149.99 to        USD 169.99. On the other hand, the Ultimate plan went from USD 19.99 to USD 20.99 monthly, and the annual plan from USD 199.99 to USD 209.99. The ad-supported plans did not experience any price changes. Keeping the prices of the ad-supported plans unchanged suggests an effort to attract and retain price-sensitive subscribers, while the increase in the ad-free and Ultimate plans aims to capture greater value from users willing to pay more for an uninterrupted experience.
