Piracy impacts the M+E Industry with over USD 9 billion annually
Stream Guardian becomes the first software to identify all users stealing the signalBB Media has obtained worldwide approval for the Intellectual Property of Stream Guardian, a software that allows the detection of audiovisual content theft in real-time. The global data science company, already experienced in monitoring piracy, dedicated over three years to investing in technology to tackle new trends in illegal consumption.
Thanks to its innovative technology, Stream Guardian marks a milestone in the fight against piracy by working alongside each streaming platform. Through a unique code, it tracks in real-time who and how the content is being illegally retransmitted. One of its major differentiators is that it achieves this without being detected by the pirate retransmitter or the receiver.
“It has been an investment of enormous scale in terms of time, resources, and money, but now the entire world has a tool to combat the scourge of piracy,” says Horacio Gennari, Founder of BB Media.
BB Media started almost 20 years ago monitoring linear piracy and contributed to hundreds of cable operators ceasing the illegal use of content. However, the most recent analyses reveal that online piracy is increasing at an alarming rate. BB Media identified that by the end of 2023, 41% of households with internet in Latin America are affected by piracy. The annual growth of pirate practices is 36%, ranging from 19% in Uruguay and Venezuela to 54% in Chile.
Stream Guardian is exclusively available worldwide. In this way, BB Media reaffirms its commitment and leadership in the protection of digital content.
